Character: Pit
Fandom: Kid Icarus
History:
Spoilers ahead! his canon point is from the end of Uprising.
Personality:
In a word, dork.
Okay, that wouldn't be fair. Let's get more in-depth. Pit is basically your average, all around Nintendo hero. He's brave, selfless, kind, always strives to do the right thing by others, and will not hesitate to help others even if they were once his enemies. Despite being constantly harassed by Dark Pit, he didn't hesitate to rush to the dark angel's rescue when the latter was nearly killed by the Chaos Kin.
Pit's kindness is another trait of his. Though Palutena ironically insists he should make more friends, it isn't really hard for him to make friends. Pit is boisterous, bubbly, magnetic, and overflowing with childlike charm. He loves to banter and joke and will even break the fourth wall on occasion. Subtlety is not a strong suit of his for whenever he's on the scene, he makes sure everyone knows it. Pit also has quite the appetite on him and will eat anything, no matter how bizzarre.
Pit is also very optimistic, always wearing his heart on his sleeve. Pit is almost never seen without that trademark smile. Though he has his moments of being sad or in distress, they only last a brief moment before he's back on his feet. Nothing keeps this angel down for long. Another trait of his is his idealism. Like Palutena, Pit holds the human race in high regard. In his view, humans should be protected because they are the only creatures on the earth who believe in and respect the gods. Because of this, Pit is always willing to believe in the good in humans.
But what defines Pit most of all is his loyalty to Palutena, the Goddess of Light. Simply put, Pit will do anything for Palutena. Dark Pit said it best: If Palutena says jump, he'll jump. If she says fight, he'll fight. If she wants coffee, he'll get her a cream and two sugars. He even outright admitted that she is the reason he fights. His faith in her is so resolute that he refused to believe that Palutena turned evil during the time he was imprisoned in the Ring of Chaos and fought like hell to save her, nearly dying as a result.
Going hand-in-hand with his loyalty to Palutena is his determination and willpower. Pit's motto can best be described as when the going gets tough, he just gets tougher. No matter how high the stakes or how impossible the odds, Pit refuses to quit. A fight with Pit is a fight to the end. He'll defeat his opponent or perish trying. Despite being trapped in a ring for three years, Pit managed to break out and worked to fix the mess he made.
Now that isn't to say that the angel is not without his faults. While he doesn't view anyone as beneath him, Pit has a bit of an ego to him and likes to show off on occasion, usually when performing his rally cries. His AR description even says that he practices to make them good. Pit is also slightly narcissistic and tends to brag about his looks on occasion.
In addition, Pit isn't the brightest bulb in the socket. By his own admission, he is illiterate and has trouble understanding complex vocabulary. Pit also has difficulty detecting sarcasm, which is ironic as he can deal out some snarky comments of his own. Pit, in addition, tends to get sensitive when someone brings up his inability to fly. It doesn't help that Palutena and the other characters tease him about this.
Pit loyalty to Palutena and his faith in the human race are also big weaknesses. As Chapter 23 shows, Pit needs Palutena by his side to boost his morale. If he's separated from her, Pit starts to become anxious and will attempt to sub himself in for Palutena. It doesn't help that other gods like Viridi and Hades will constantly insult him at every turn. Also, despite seeing time and time again that humans are selfish, self-destructive creatures, Pit refuses to give up his beliefs in humanity. This, unsurprisingly, puts him in conflict with other characters like Viridi or Dark Pit.
All in all, despite his faults, Pit is one of the nicest people you'll ever meet and to be his friend is to have a companion for life.
Abilities:
Don't be fooled by Pit's childlike appearance and demeanor. The angel is a powerful warrior and no slouch on the battlefield, having defeated the likes of other gods such as Hades and Medusa. Pit is mainly a skilled archer by default. His signature weapon is the Palutena Bow, a special bow crafted by Palutena herself. With it, Pit can fire energy arrows with deadly accuracy. The weapon can also separate into twin blades for close-quarters combat.
Over time, Pit has also managed to master other heavenly weaponry such as Arms, (weapons worn on the arm that are used for melee and long-ranged combat), Blades (weapons that can be used as both a sword or a gun), Cannons (used for clearing out large groups of enemies), Claws (weapons worn on hands that are mainly used for close-quarters combat), Clubs (large weapons more suited for close-quarters combat), Orbitars (small drones that hover near Pit and fire blasts at enemies), Palms (tattoos that use the user's life force to fire energy blasts), and Staffs (long-ranged weapons used for sniping). All of these weapons make Pit a deadly force to be reckoned with.
On top of his weapon prowess, Pit is also skilled with magic thanks to the various powers granted by Palutena. These powers range from healing magic, to protection magic, to super speed, to even turning himself into a missile and firing himself at enemies. Pit is also stronger than an average human despite his childish appearance, able to use weapons as heavy as Arms, Cannons, and Clubs with little effort. The angel is also very athletic, possessing increidible reflexes and reaction time.
First Person:
A thread from another game. If this doesn't work, I can happily do another.
Third Person:
"Lady Palutena? Can you here me? Hello?" Pit called out. Well, this is something you don't see every day. Pit had found himself back in Skyworld somehow. Strange in that the last thing he remembered was defeating Hades. Pit searched around the temple and all around Skyworld, but strangely, Lady Palutena nor the Centurions were nowhere to be found.
Pit then stopped to think on what happened. The last thing he remembered was defeating Hades and flying off into the sunset as the credits began to roll. He was also sure that Palutena didn't extract him. So, that begged the question: How did he end up here? And more importantly, where was Lady Palutena and the Centurions? And even more importantly, why did he have this journal with him. Pit never held a journal or diary before. Pit attempted to contact Palutena telepathically, but recieved no response.
Now this definitely wasn't making sense. It was as if everyone in Skyworld had up and vanished. What could've possibly happened? But that's when a more horrifying thought occured: What if it wasn't just Palutena and the Centurions that disappeared? What if everyone in the whole world vanished?! Viridi, Pittoo, Phosphora and the others, all gone! A cold sweat began to form on his brow.
But he immediately shook off this thought. He couldn't think that. He wouldn't think that! Surely someone had to be here who could give him answers! He didn't give up when he was trapped in a ring and he won't give up now! He just had to keep searching. And he would do just that. He wouldn't stop until he found Palutena. With that in mind, he took the journal with him and continued his search.
