Sparring Session

Who: Pit and Makoto
What: Pit is out doing his daily training regiment when he meets Makoto. A friendly sparring match ensues.
Where: In an old gymnasium
When: Evening of Jan 14
Warnings: None

It was just another humdrum day for Pit, Captain of Lady Palutena's guard and Hero of Skyworld. With Hades defeated and the world at peace, life was quite good. No worries. No one threatening the human race. Admittedly though, life was also starting to get a bit boring. Part of Pit was almost wishing for something to happen. If so he could relieve this growing boredom.

But sadly, there wasn't. Thus, the only way for Pit to relieve his boredom was a daily exercise routine at the park. After all, he was the Captain of the Guard. He couldn't slack off even in times of peace. You never know when danger could strike. He had to be ready. The Angel's Code of Conduct said that he must always be ready for duty. And so, here he was, practicing his archery with his Palutena Bow by firing on makeshift targets.

Anyone care to join him?

Sorry this took a bit. Work was a little rough this week.

The world slowly came into focus again for Makoto. The first thing that came to mind was the splitting headache she was feeling and a sense that something was just not right at all. So she just stays as she is for a few moments while her eyesight sharpened back to normal and she was able to better get a feel for where she was. The last thing she'd remembered was volunteering to test the Professor's teleportation device... and by volunteer, somewhat indirectly threatened to fulfill the role.

All of which might explain why she was hanging upside down in a tree somewhere. A matter easily rectified as she rights herself and lands neatly in a crouch. Her head was getting better when she wasn't hanging upside down. And then that still left her with the question of where she was... aside from in the bushes somewhere nice. The air lacked that distinctive scent of seither, yet that slightly odd sensation she got from the Ars Armagus she usually had running was still there.

Well, step one was going to be recon. And ideally, it would be a recon where she wasn't going to stand out too much. Thankfully, she'd been wearing her coat when the Professor had called her in -admittedly, her choice fighting attire was a little too flashy most of the time. But hey, she was proud of the figure she cut.

Anyway, jacket buttoned up, she slips out from her cover of park foliage and walks about to see who she can find. Which is a matter summarily addressed as she finds a fellow with a bow taking shots at some dummies he'd set up. He wasn't all that bad of a shot either. And for the better or worse of things, he was the first person she'd encountered.

So she makes her way over about as casually as she could, watching him work and waiting for him to take a pause in his shots before approaching.

"Nice shot there. I'm guessing whoever decided to ignore archery in favor of guns never met you before." Her tone is sincere, if not a little playful and matched well with a smile.

"Yeah, I'm a little new in town." She remarks, scratching the back of her head a little as her smile tones down to merely a playful grin. "Ah, Makoto." Her name is given simply, sparing the last name. No real need for formality or the remote possibility of her new acquaintance recognizing the last name. Then again, if he was an enemy, a beastkin of her particular features probably wasn't something often come across, so it wasn't exactly going to be the most subtle approach anyway.

Oh well. No sense in worrying over what's already happened. Just play things by ear and see how it all comes out.

"What about you?"

There's the temptation to rattle off a dozen questions right off the bat, but she figured that she'd have to be good this time and take it slow. As much as she'd like to get a grasp on things quickly, she was an intelligence operative and had to remember patience. That was hard and annoying.

She shakes hands with the winged boy, blinking at little bit at his title. A line from an old movie she'd seen playing in the break room seemed very suiting about now. Something about not being in Kansas anymore. Whatever Kansas was like. Still, there's a certain look of confusion on her face before he poses a question her.

"Just travelling around. You know, seeing the sights." That look of general unease didn't go away as she replied, but the part of her that was a skilled operative was telling her that she just didn't know all of what was going on now. She needed to stay calm, act mostly normal and look into everything.

Okay.

She gives a glance back toward the targets before turning to Pit.

"Practicing a little today?"

And just as soon as she'd managed to shelve that confused look, he mentioned being an angel. At least it wasn't nearly as bad as the first time. The immediate first wonder was if the teleporter exploded or something and she was dead. But if that had happened, she had to admit it was a far less painful ordeal than she'd expected. In either case, perhaps this wasn't heaven, she thought to herself and that this was just somewhere else where there were angel-like beings that just called themselves such.

Well, she wouldn't know until she found out more about where she was. At this point, what's the worst that could happen with some exploring? But that would necessitate getting to know more from the locals. And apparently Pit was with the authorities, so perhaps she figured if she could help him, he'd be inclined to fill her in on just where she was.

So there's that attempt are recomposing again.

"Yeah, I could see that. The whole ready for anything deal, right?" Her more self-assured smile comes back. "Your ranged work is really impressive, but how're you up close?"

Sorry this took awhile, work schedule went nuts for a little there

Just as she felt she'd been tossed head over tail on this trip up or down the proverbial rabbit hole, Pit managed to present something that she was comfortable with. And all at once, that confusion and uncertainty melted away in the face of something she was familiar with: a challenge.

Her lips turned to a grin as if the top dog -er, squirrel? On the playground had just been told the new kid in school could out-run them. However this ended, she was going to enjoy this.

With a twirling flourish, she tosses her jacket aside. Showy or not, the coat interfered with her movement, got caught on things and made for an easy grab target. And as somewhat lacking in practicality as what she wore beneath it was, it gave her a full range of unrestricted movement. As her jacket fluttered to the ground off to the side, the compression armagus on her tonfa release, seemingly forming the weapons from nothing... though the reality was more akin to taking them out of a sub-space pocket. She takes a forward stance, the guard she presents reflecting a seasoned brawler and the slight bounce in the way she stands hinting at some near boundless energy.

"If that's an invitation, it'd be rude to turn you down."
